Gran Melia Palacio de los Duques

  • About

A 19th century Palace with a privileged location in the Madrid of the Austrias area, next to the Royal Palace, Royal Theatre and Almudena Cathedral. This fascinating Palace, located on what was once the most important Convent in 13th century Europe, the Convent of Santo Domingo, has maintained the character and elegance of the original structure of the residence of the Duke of Granada de Ega, as well as a spectacular historic garden. Today, the Palace has been transformed into a resort inspired by the work of the famous painter Velázquez. In its interior, one is surrounded by a spread library across its spaces reflecting on the Spanish master. The book collection, curated by My Bookcase, opens up the work of the Spanish master through a selection of books that reflect on his artistic and literate references as well as the contemporary surroundings of the Gran Melia Palacio de los Duques. A selection of books touching art, music, design, architecture, landscape and Elizabethan culture.
