Publication: La biblioteca de Velázquez

On occasion of the creation of a hotel in central Madrid dedicated to the Spanish painter Diego Velázquez, My Bookcase was invited to respond to Diego Velázquez’s working library. The outcome is a curated book collection on display at the hotel lobby as well as a 10-copies edition of a very special publication: ‘La biblioteca de Velázquez’ (The library of Velázquez).

The publication includes the transcription of an excerpt from D. Diego de Silva Velazquez and his wife D Juana Pacheco will of goods. Listing the book collection situated in his studio, directly influenced his paintings. Some of these references have been found in his paintings, here presented in a very detailed and abstracted form accompanying Velazquez’s list of books. The list is a work by the Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Artístico, and is here presented in its original format as Diego Velázquez wrote it before his death.
